Past President's Trophy
We start 2006 with a Major Award. The Past President's Trophy in the
Rose Parade. We are the most creative use of non floral material part
of the equation for The City of Long Beach entry, "Pacific
Fantasy." It was our adaptation of "I like Summer Time, "to" Long
Beach Summer Time," that was our contribution.

Official Rose Parade Song
It's an honor & a privilege to have one of my songs chosen as the Official Rose Parade Song, " Long Beach Summer Time, " for the City of Long Beach Rose Parade Float, "A Day At The Beach, 2005." We had fun recording 2nd & 3rd graders from Edison Elementary ( LBUSD, ) The Lorikeet Chorus, courtesy of the Aquarium of the Pacific, The Sea Lion Chorus, featuring Parker & Miller ( the singing Sea Lions ) also courtesy of The Aquarium of the Pacific. We mixed the above sounds & Long Beach H2O sounds with a track from our 2000 release, " I Like Summer Time, " from our cd, A Band for All Reasons on Shore Records. The song was chosen by committee within the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau & proceeded through other City channels for final approval.
This is a Great Way to start 2005!

Southern California Wild Fire Evacuees
It was important personally to have played for the Southern California Wild Fire Evacuees @ the San Bernardino International Airport on Saturday 11/01. My family has a cabin in Running Springs. "Lifting Spirits is part of what making music is all about!" Thank you to The Fire Fighters & all other official personnel for brave & heroic service. Thank you to The Red Cross, Salvation Army, the media & all volunteers for their tireless energy, time, patience, expertise & support to those in need. And a Special Thank You to CNN for the loan of AC power for our performance.

The Second Street Band is a pool of approximately 40 world-class musicians and vocalists led by Gregg Young, singer, guitarist, ASCAP songwriter/publisher & NARAS Member.
Gregg, originally from San Francisco, was signed to a major label recording contract when in his teens and had an "NFL or NBA" musical experience while touring and recording. Gregg has been in shows that included such acts as Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Steve Miller, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Linda Ronstadt, Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, Eric Burden, War, Jose Feliciano and others.
